Strategy Poast

Yes, I typed POAST, cause that's what all the cool kids at 2+2 call it. We are in a double or nothing in the 50/100/10 level with 9 people left. What is your play in this spot?

  1. Shove. With 10-15 bb and a medium pair, i wanna get all Ace/king rags out. I don't get too fancy with these midpairs.

  2. hrbek likes a shove. if u run into something so be it. if you win blinds, great, if you get called by a lower PP I'm sorry about that river, if you win then you really are in coast mode.

  3. I love a shove too...there is no one after you that will call with anything less then a monster. You'd be screwed any ways if someone had JJ's or better. The last thing you want to do is allow a naked ace to see a flop for free and besides, a flop will have cards bigger then a ten...what will you do then?

  4. I raise to 350 and shove any flop if I get called. If you only get called in one spot this should leave you a pot sized bet for the flop. I want to give someone a chance to make a mistake (usually the blinds making a loose call and playing fit or fold).

I think if you shove in this spot people will see this as weak and will be more willing to call you lighter. If someone wakes up with a monster so be it, I'm still getting all in there.

  5. I'm with nzgreen. Raise and see what happens. Of course, if you've been playing kinda tight and have that image people might fold. But, if you get a couple of calls, then you get more if people fold on the flop. If you've been loose, then just shove and hope for the best.

  6. making a 3.5x pf raise and get 2 callers, then what? i think it's an ez shove from MP. you need to pick up some chips like now and you still might get called by a worse pair (e.g. 99/88/77) or overs for a double up if it holds. if someone woke up with JJ+ behind, just suckout. poker is ez.
